In general, it seems like it's running ok when it's just me or one other person on the boat. However, it does sound like its running a little rough. Additionally, there is an occasional "sputter" in the RPMs (effectively it will drop about 100-200 RPM and then go back to normal but this is mainly while idling). However, when i have 6-8 people on the boat, it wont go over 15 mph. It get's to 15 mph when I'm throttling down where it would typically get to 15 mph, and then as I continue to push the throttle, there's no increase in speed. Additionally, the boat sounds like it is really struggling. I have a PCM 5.7L 350 engine. I replaced the fuel filters, transmission fluid, oil & filter, within the last two weeks. Does anyone have any experience with this or have any ideas on what could be causing this?
I was going to start with a process of elimination and clean the flame arrestor and change the FCC filter (I'm not sure either of these have been done in the last 200 hours) and see if that does anything. Then move on to the spark plugs (which have not been changed since I got the boat in 2020) and then move on to the fuel pumps. These may all be the original parts so I am not horribly concerned with replacing the parts but also dont need to waste money if someone thinks this is the wrong path to go down. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
