2006 24V Engine Compartment Dividers

My boat didn't have the engine compartment dividers installed when I got it and now that I've got everything sorted and some hours on it, I'd like to put them back in. I'm really struggling with this puzzle, lol. It's almost as if the divider is too short if I have it slid all the way back. Am I putting this together right? Is there something I'm missing?

Mine are the same, 2005 24v. They seem like an afterthought. I added some L brackets to help.

Haha, got it. I was planning on doing aluminum channel like you had to help support the dividers when the ballast was full so I'll just have to space those out a little bit.
