    Master switch wired incorrectly

I had to put new batteries in because they died. Put 2 new same size both maintenance free. Boat won’t crank unless on the second setting. There aren’t many wires going to the batteries, could I have wired something completely wrong to cause this? Plus I lose power to the house battery and nothing works. 2017 23 z3

Only the cables not the switch. It only cranks in the 4 position. I bought new batteries but the house battery won’t keep the charge. There are 2 main red and 2 black cables, the on board charger cables for both batteries and I think 2 other small ground cables. I thought I only need to turn the switch to the first position to start? Which I thought I did last year until I replaced the batteries.
