09 RZ2 Ballast Issue

Kerlee...sounds like the right thing to do. It's basically an upside down p-trap.

This is correct. Mine was the same, Dealer fixed in a matter of a couple of hours.... During the 20 hour service.

I have no idea how to service these supply pumps as they are sandwiched between the hull and the floor of the boat. This is the case for all but one of the supply pumps.

Mine are the same. To get to them easily the rear seat bottom needs to come off. This is done by reaching through the v-drive access to the underside where there are two studs going through the fibreglass seat bottom with nuts and lock washer on them on each side. Then the seat bottom comes off. Then to remove the fiberglass seat base, there are two more bolts on each side near the bottom going throught to the storage compartments. two more nuts and washers. Then the the seat base comes out. The pums are expose more but the if you remove the floor that cover the fuel tank that exposes the ballast pumps even more.

Nice... Hope I don't burn one up. They should have been installed horizontally, so you can service them. I might consider doing that if I ever have to do anything to them.

The pumps on the 07's are not mounted horizontally they are mounted verticly creating a problem for the pump to get water. This is why I rebuilt the stock manifold to lay them over.

Yes. No access to them.

Somewhat off topic, but here are some pics of the pumps for the ballasts I added in the rear lockers. They are reversible and serve as supply and drain pumps. My dealer did this work for me. He added the carpeted board to support them. They are mounted just behind the engine (between the engine and the transom. As you can tell, he installed it to last.







Here are a few photos of the added sacs. Each add 455# of ballast. This is as much storage space as I wanted to give up. Like most, we need to be able to surf on either side of the boat.

I was wondering the same thing, cause I see a thru hull at the bottom of the shut-off valve.

After looking at those pics again.... Could the aft tanks fill from thru hulls on the bottom and the forward bag fill from a thru hull on the transom?????
