    PSA: Clean your battery connections

TLDR; Clean all connections when replacing battery.

Put in a new “house” battery, not the starting battery (on our 2020 Tige 22 RZX, the port battery is “house” and starboard battery is “start”) because the screen was dead—boat started and ran just fine.

Afterward, the “house” voltage read 10.something. Went out for a surfing session and the wake kind of sucked. Put boat on charger and came back the next day and boat worked fine.

Came back a week later and boat was listing to port when at speed. Looked at the TAPS fins and port was up and starboard was down. Went in to service mode and couldn’t get TAPS to move. Filled ballast and got up to surfing speed and couldn’t get TAPS to move.

Started to troubleshoot and checked 40 amp individual TAPS breakers. Checked 100 amp main breaker. Hoping the computer module wasn’t fried and realizing the only recent change was the battery, I checked the connections and noted some corrosion or patina on the various connectors.

Went at everything aggressively with a file and reconnected everything and then put the battery back on a charge overnight…problem solved!

Now this may be obvious to most but please don’t neglect to clean all connections when monkeying with the batteries.

    Good luck!

    Tyler
