hockey puck transmitter

Anyone ever removed a hockey puck style transmitter from the inside of your hull? I need to replace my transmitter, I think?
My depth sounder guage gives off eratic readings.
Can I just wack the old puck with a heavy hammer??

Boy, that sounds like a pretty risky way of doing it. I would guess they used a fairly aggressive epoxy to keep it in place.
Can you potentially just leave the puck where it is, and and the new one near it?

Well I was clueless on options of removing but have been enlightened to try and pry it off with a screwdriver or some other device, chisel mabye. But, leaving it there is definetly an option.
