Ok so i made a box 12hx13.5wx17d out of 3/4 mdf which gives an internal volume of 1.13. I found i could get real close to the 1.15 you recommended and only need one 2'x4' sheet to do it with!

So I measured, cut, glued, pin nailed and screwed it all together (wife says i overkilled the screws, is 100 too many? ) I coated it with bedliner-in-a-can and then carpted the face (for looks as that's all you can see) and installed the sub. Man what a difference! This freakin thing pounds now! Thanks Phil!

BTW, I had the wife sit in the drivers seat last night and started pounding the tunes. She says "oooh i can feel it real good in the seat" ... she wants to drive now! sshhhhh, she'll kill me if she knows i told!

I think for my setup, a 14.5 W x 17 H x 14 D will fit. Had a cardboard mockup in the boat yesterday. Around 2 cu ft gross, or 1.46 cu ft internal volume. Might have to reduce height 1/2 inch, and then increase the depth 1/2 inch.

Question on connectors. Assume you're using some sort of connectors at the back to interface to. What type, and do those need to be sealed? [Edit: I found a source that says to feed the wire thru a hole and seal with silicon.]

Phil - As in Razz' case, can I assume no issues with ratios, W to D to H?

Your ratios are going to work fine for you.

As for connectors, if you are not going to remove the speaker enclosure, wire coming through a siliconed hole is fine. I still prefer using some sort of connector though. There are several different styles available... Just don't go mega-cheapie route...

Also, size the connectors appropriately, what you are looking for is a connector that is suitable for #12 or #10 AWG wire.

Here's an update; I had the boat out all weekend and the sub performed flawlessly! I'm real happy with the enclosure and the range of sound and the intensity for a 10" sub!

MRMoffat1; I used a round speaker terminal connector block on the back that accepts banana pin connectors. I ran 10awg w/ banana pins from the amp to the connector block and 10awg from the inside of the block to the sub. I actually used ring terminals on the inside so that the inside wire is attached via nuts to the connectors. Works good.

Completed. Outsourced it to a car audio installer, I'm not that handy. While they had the boat, I had them move three volume controllers that were originally installed underdash (tower, bow, main), to an in dash integrated approach. There was a post quite a while ago on LC1s mounted in dash - much much more convient. (The subwoofer bass control was already mounted on the dash)

Last trip this weekend, will have some pics next week.

While they were at it, I had the installer reposition and mount volume controls from kick plate under dash, to on dash.

Top to bottom: Tower, Bow, Main, Subwoofer.
