ha ha ha, and I don't have the NVS's on yet
here are some pics of the bracket, and the alt all plumbed into place.
QUESTION!!
The two wires going to the stock alt, one was hot all the time, the other was nothing. Anyone have any idea what it might be? also. On the new alt I just hooked up the hot all the time wire, and not the hot on ignition source, or the tach. Now I know I don't have to hook up the tach, but what about the hot on ignition? Will I hurt anything? as you can see in the pics it is charging.
Thanks.
sorry the pics are blurry, it was hard to get it close and focus so you could seeLast edited by Domsz06; 07-05-2007, 03:45 PM.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

first pic is at idle, with no stereo, and the second one is at 1000 rpm's with the stereo blasting. Only had one sub hooked up but all the amps were on. So I think this alt may just work. We shall see sat when I take it out for a lake test.
when I turned the stereo up at idle, the alt jumped around a bit on the deep bass notes, but at 1000 on the same song it didn't budge.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

no, it has to do with the wires, but thanks.
I know it will have more at higher rpm's, this isn't my first rodeo

Dom-What did your old alternator do when you applied the load? Just curious....Originally posted by Domsz06 View Postfirst pic is at idle, with no stereo, and the second one is at 1000 rpm's with the stereo blasting. anyone out there with an answer to my question?
With my old alt tigeduner it would never see above 13, and that was just with my 3 amps in it. When at idle and playing the music it was well below 11, if I turned on the ballast pumps below 9. I had to idle around 2k rpm's to get it even close to 12 to just break even. If we were boarding it would get above 12 barely and if it was a big bass song forget it.
Granted all the above numbers were when playing really loud. but I had my interiors and subs blasting at 1k rpm it was right where it was, so I think I'm happy, just want to see what the other subs and nvs will do. also hope i'm not hurting anything by not hooking all those wires up.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

If I am thinking correctly what the ignition provides voltage to the voltage regulator inside the ALT. When voltage dips below 12V you altenator will go into what is called Full Field Charge Mode and charge at it full power. Very seldom should this happen. The goal is to charge at half its power on a regular baisis. When you turn on the IGN. you should see at least 12v constant at that lead. Saturday I should be able to help you with that. Give me a call so we can cordinate our time. I have a wire tracer to find out what the other wire is for and where it goes so we can figure out what to do with that wire.Originally posted by Domsz06 View Postha ha ha, and I don't have the NVS's on yet
