Time to upgrade the R20. Thoughts?

I've been looking at the Arc Audio Xdi series rather then opting for the Wetsounds HT series. I'm thinking I'll have a decent setup if I ran the XDi 805. I would bridge the 4 channels to 2 and run the Icon8's (160rms a piece) and the xs-fa10 on the sub channel. The I would run the in boats (xs65) on the Xdi 804 giving them 80rms a piece. Is anyone running these amps? How do you like them?

Should I wire each speaker to the amp individually and give them 100Wx4 at 4 ohms, or wire them parallel and give them 150Wx4 at 2 ohms?

Ive been using the ARC XDi amps for over a year now and like them. Small, efficient class-D and respectable power.

I like your plan, but may I make a minor suggestion? The Xdi804 and XDi805 have the same 4 ohm, 2 ohm and 4 ohm bridged output on the full-range chnls.I would use the 805 for the in-boats and sub and the 804 run in 2 chnl mode for the Icon-8's

This would be 80W rms to each of your 4 in-boats and 200W rms to a single 4 ohm sub (or 400W to a dual 4 ohm sub). Then bridge the Icons on the XDi804 for 240W rms. Everyone gets the same power, but its easier to configure the RCA cables. If you are up to tackling a sub woofer box, going with a 4 ohm DVC sub will let you tap into the XDi805's available 400W rms.

With four 4 ohm tower speakers and a 4 chnla amp, you will want to run that amp at the 4 ohm per chnl load. This has each tower speaker netting 100W rms. If you wired a pair on parallel, then each speaker would divide that 150W @ 2 ohm and each netting 75W. This route would have you using only 2 chnls for a total of 300W for 4 tower speakers. With each speaker on its own chnl, you will have a 400W tower setup. 4 chnls running @ 4 ohm gives you more headroom, then 2 chnls @ 2 ohm for less watts per speaker.

So I'm trying to tune my existing setup. I think the Icon8's are getting pretty dialed in. Tons of mid bass! As for the sub (wetsounds xs10fa) I think I need to set the subsonic filter on it. What's a general consensus on the setting? The frequency response is good to 20hz. Should I set it at or above this level? The amp is a Xdi805. What about the boost frequency? Just trying to get the most out of this setup.

For an IB 10", I would set a subsonic at 30hz and cross-over frequency at 100 Hz. 40Hz on the BB, but I would start at 0 and not use any boost. if you do add a little boost, you will want back off the gain a little also.

Your icons and in-boats are running on "Hi-Pass", right?

You want to cross it over around 80Hz. That will essentially cut any sound above that level from playing through the sub.

Yeah, the Icons and inboats are on high pass and crossed around 80hz. I am debating on bumping that sightly higher. Thanks again for great advice! I'll report back!

I would definitely not raise the x-over on the icons, but maybe even lower them. 80Hz on the in-boats is good.

I blew my xs65s, I replaced them with JL 7.7 inch, and added two more so I have 6. I have 2 JL 750/1s running 4 Rev 10s, a JL 900/5 running my cockpit JL speakers and a JL 12 W6, and a JL 500/1v2 running another JL 12 W6. My battery bank is made with 4 Crown 6v Golf cart batteries that are hooked to an ACR regulator separate from my batter running my engine. My battery bank is all ran with 2/0 gage wiring, and all my stereo is 4 gage.
