Speaker Grill lights

So I'm thinking it would be a real nice touch to install some BLUE LED light inside the speaker grill. I have 6.5 Polks and 6x9 Polks installed in the cabin and the bow.

Any hints tips or tricks anyone can share?

There are 2 ways to light a speaker.

The acrylic rings behind the speaker offers the most light effect. They are easy to do, providing you either have someone to cut the rings or have the tools and talents to do it yourself, but they get expensive. A sheet of 3/8" acrylic is not cheap and the 12V ready LED strips by-the-foot get expensive. For a 6.5" speaker, you'll need about 20" of LED strip.

IMO, the above pictured method is the best. If offers a nice soft ambiance (unless you use supper bright LEDs with each wired to you 12V source) by giving a nice glow to the speaker cone. These can be done cheap. It is very labor intensive as you have to calculate the necessary resister(s), based on the individual LED and how many you wire in series.

The ones I did for the Kicker Malibu, each 6.5 speaker got 3 LEDs and their own register. From there, each was wired in parallel to the switched source.

See no reason those wouldn't, providing your speaker grill and basket had a means to hide all the wires an allow them to pass safely through to the backside of the speaker. From there, just wire all the reds together and the blacks together, and them run them to their source.

I have one question, why didn't you just use 4 LED instead of 3?
4/12vdc = 3vdc.

Honestly, I may have used 4, but I cant remember for sure I do know that the 2 deciding facters were how the LED's laid aroung the grill so they and the wires were hidden and the abilaty to be able to solder the legs togehter in series. If they where cut too short, it was a pain to solder. What ever wattage resister I used, math conlcuded that a resister was needed.

Ok, my LEDs finally got here via a slow boat from across the pond.

The white is white, the red is red and the blue is blue. Overall, they are not super bright individually, but at $.20 each for a 12V ready LED with a 6" pigtail, I think they are ok.

let me see if I can get some put on a sub grill and get a pic.

I cant remember the vendor, but it was an overseas seller. What I got was a 50 pack of exactly what you linked. My came in about 10 days, but I figured for what I spent, if they never showed up, I wouldnt sweat it.

I will probably order more once I know what color ET wants in his new boat.
