speaker dilemma

I want to get some wet sounds tower speakers for next season. The problem is, in 2012 I'll be buying a new RZ2, so the speakers won't work with the alpha Z tower or is it just an adapter that goes on the standard speaker to accommodate different towers?

I guess I could always sell the speakers with the boat, and buy new ones again, but I doubt I'll get my money back out of it.

the PRO, PRO 80 and MB-8 can all be converted to an X version. This is the version for cast towers like the Alpha Z. So in the future it is an easy adjustment to change to an X. We have a kit to do just that. However, the top adapter part that covers the speakers can only be ordered from Tige. So you can convert a 60,80 or MB-8 to an X and they bolt up. But they will look like what our speakers do on a malibu illusion (you can see pics on our site) Some are cool with that while others like the molded in look the top adapter provides.

I believe they can be converted from clamps to flush-mount, but not 100% sure. I know I've sold the clamps to a Tige owner who went the other way. I can say that a previously enjoyed set of Wet Sounds that are in good shape cosmetically, will sell with just a little depreciation. I would take this into consideration compared to the cost of a retrofit. Also, if you order your new Tige with the Wet Sounds from the factory, you get the 3-year Tige warranty on them, I believe.

You would have to figure out a custom mounting if you wanted to put on a 485. Difficulty, even if you can create a strong mounting method, would be that located centerspan under the Alpha Z will result in unacceptable headroom, and mounting on top of the Alpha Z will interfere with the bimini.

A double-up system isn't too shabby and works perfectly with the Alpha Z.

Like dingle said, you would have to have a custom mount done. Another option to the 3-Some would the the Double-Up using Pro80's and MB8's.

In the 2011 model brochure, I don't see options for their traditional-style E- or Z- towers. But Tige always seems willing to help. They may still be able to source them and install them.

Also, another option would be to have it built without any tower and add your own aftermarket, such as a Samson.

And options for you. The alpha z tower is nice and I know that the wetsounds boat has 4 pro 80's.Tim has put a ton of amp watts to those speakers.

That would be a terrible trade off just to have a particular speaker IMHO. For me if I could put a Alpha Z tower on my 08 I could care less if I even had tower speakers.

I actually prefer the looks of the tube towers. Different strokes for different folks, I guess..
