Need advice/ideas

Here's the deal: I'm hoping to get a vendor booth back at the Spring boat show next Feb. I want to be able to build and set up a demo board with at least a couple amps, tower speakers, a few pairs of mids, and a sub or two. This is the easy part

Being that all this runs off 12V, and the convention center is A/C, I'm looking for some ideas on how to best power the demo board. The ghetto way is to just use a battery and a battery charger. Dont want to spend a ton, as I will need to budget for the inventory, booth, banner, etc.

Hey "Getto" works. Plus you will need the amps to keep the thing going and the cheap transformers dont put out enough amps.

Keep a 10a or 20a charger on it while you use it.

Keep it simple!

Find a Circuit City (or other place that sold car audio) that went out of business and see if you can get whatever it is they use for cheap.

I have asked my guys to make a recommendation too; my guys are the ones that build this sort of stuff for our needs...

And the answer is try the Stinger brand of power supply, available from Aamp of America

Unfortunately these would not provide nearly the amperage that Chp is gonna need to power those amps.....

Haven't looked at the Stinger brand but the nitrohouse one only has an output of 18 amps, still not nearly enough.....Remember when the voltage goes down the amperage goes up, depending on how many amps he is running he's gonna need at least 100-150 amps I would think

This will probably be the cheapest way to go, not sure what one of the stinger set ups cost that Phil mentioned, just hide the charger and batteries somewhere in the back of the booth, no biggie.....

80 amp one. I used to have two of this in my RZ4. I will have them in the new boat as well. They are a combo power supply and charger. So when the boat was at a show, it was plugged into A/C. Looks just like the Stinger one as well. So either way.

Cool thing about this. If you buy them for the sound board. You can always re sell them as part of an install and put it in the boat as an on board charger.

And they work great. A lot of car audio shops use these to power their display boards.

None of them are cheap but maybe if you go the Kinetik route, you have a part in stock you can actually sell.

How do people in Havasu power their system with generators while on shore? Do they use a Kinetic charger to battery bank like the one Tim listed? Actually for only $250 that doesn't sound like a bad deal at all. Seems like that would fit your needs if you have a battery sitting around.

I'm looking at getting an onboard charger (like the ProMariner or Xantrex,) but that Kinetik unit looks much cooler. There is also a couple times per year I would love to be able to use a generator for power, would that Kinetik unit work?

Moving Forward

Well, I've submitted my app. for a booth. I hope to know by next week whether i'm in or not. If so, then the push is on. I will need to get a banner/sign done, professional biz cards done.

I can get a couple of the mentioned power supplies through my local distributor, which is great because it will save on freight Thanks for the ideas and recommendations guys

Now I need to decide on what all I need/want to display This is going to be the hard part I will only have 10x10 space to display tower speakers, cabin speakers, subs, amps, ballast sacs and components, LED's, etc. Especially anything new coming out! I doubt I will even have room to stock anything to sell on the spot Oh well, maybe next year i'll up-size to a 20x10

Wow, quick response from the boat show promoters, looks like i've got a booth Damn, I guess this means i'll be spending a lot of $$$ Come Feb the 15th, look for my huge "Fire Sale" on displayed audio equipment

Looks like the Stinger and Kinetic power supplies are the same thing. My local Dist. has the Kinetic for $199 dealer cost, I'll be picking one up soon.

Good luck at the Show.

The only advice I have is have plenty of product slicks with your company name stamped on them and maybe have a cheap take away like a key float with your company name on it.

I did this when I worked a show and we had a stupid yellow or blue Nerf like ball with a stretchy string and our info printed on them. We got calls from people who kept their balls and were looking for product 2 years later.
