BCS nightmare!!!!! --- Possible Scenario

That's not true Dom. If it's a 3 way tie in the Big 12 south, and the 3 teams have beat up on each other so that you can't use head to head, then it goes to BCS standings. If Texas loses this late in the year, and then OU beats that team.... OU will be ahead of Texas in the polls due to timing of the loss. Once again it's always better to lose early.... look at USC who shouldn't even be in the top 10.Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.

tanner, what your saying is not true. Your situation can't happen. Say Texas loses this weekend and then wins out. That will give them one loss. Now say we win out. That will leave the south with OU and Texas with one loss. That means Texas goes. There is no other situation really. I mean the only way OU goes to the big 12 championship game is if Texas looses twice. I just don't see that happening.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

there is no way there can be a three way tie in the south. Tech still has to play us Texas and okie lite. We still play tech and okie lite. Texas still plays tech and aggies. It's just not gonna happenOriginally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

Looks like you're being a little myopic. Dom is being much more realistic. Oh and by the way USC should be in the top 10. You'll see by the time all of the bowls are done, SC will, once again, be in the top five in the final rankings (yes, I'm conceding that they have very little chance of making the championship game), but would love to see them have the opportunity to take it to the sooners again.Originally posted by Tanner View PostThat's not true Dom. Okie lite, is that OU or OSU? Most years it's OSU, but this year may be differentOriginally posted by Domsz06 View Postthere is no way there can be a three way tie in the south. In the scenario I'm talking about OSU is no longer a factor. Tech can beat Texas in Lubboch, then win out until they play us. We beat Tech, and then win out. Thus creating a three way tie where head to head is a non factor.Originally posted by Domsz06 View Postthere is no way there can be a three way tie in the south. Think what you will Powell... I no longer think USC belongs there. I did originally after their loss... but not after watching their more recents games alot closer. I don't think they're the team of old at all.Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.

They may have the talent to be, but they are way too inconsistent, so I'm with you on this one, Tanner.Originally posted by Tanner View PostThink what you will Powell... I need to retract that statement.... after studying hard and long about where I'd place them.... I have to say USC just BARELY makes my top 10, coming in that 10th spot. I can't in good concience say that I think Utah, TCU, or Boise St. can beat USC. Although I can honestly say I haven't watched a Utah or Boise St. game (so I can't make a fair judgement either way)... and I witnessed (in person) TCU get dismantled by OU. I can however say that I wouldn't exactly say I believe USC would tromp LSU or MO on a neutral field either.Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... Keep in mind that USC has the number 1 defense in the country, giving up fewer points (10), rushing yards, total yards per game and second in passing yards per game. All of those big 12 and SEC offenses haven't come across a defense that good yet.

lovin,
Hate to bust your bubble but the reason SC has the number one defense is there is ZERO teams in your conf. When you play nobodys they are not going to score any points.
Tanner,
Tech will not beat OSU IMO. Regardless I see where your coming from. Even in your situation though doesn't Texas still win the tie breaker????
Dogbert,
Yes okie lite is OSU.

Respectfully, USC gave up 3 points to Ohio State (still a decent team), 7 points to Virginia (in contention for ACC championship) and 10 points to Arizona (averaging 40 points per game). I can't defend the stupid Pac 10's record, but that doesn't diminish the fact that their defense is still one of the best. That is not just my opinion, it is pretty much that of the "experts" as well. The good news is that time will tell.Originally posted by Domsz06 View Postlovin,

At least we can agree on the fact that we hate the BCS and I, for one, would be willing to sacrifice my team's success for a year, if it meant more controversy for that screwed up system.

I gotta dispute you here for the hell of it!Originally posted by LovinPowell View PostWe'll See. USC is currently giving up 86 ypg rushing, second behind TCU's 30 yards rushing... not 1st. However they were 1st in passing with 129.6.... with TCU down quite a ways from that # after OU put 411 yards in passing to crush that stat. It's interesting to note that TCU was #1 in passing defense until that game.
Once again OU (BIG 12) ran up 28 points IN THE FIRST HALF on the #2 defense in the country (TCU)... who at that time was #1. After pulling starters half way through the 3rd, it was obvious they could score at will. So yes... they have faced a defense THAT GOOD!Originally posted by LovinPowell View PostAll of those big 12 and SEC offenses haven't come across a defense that good yet.
The question is... has that USC defense faced an offense as powerful as a Tech, OSU (Okie st), Texas, or OU yet???? They held #10 in offense Oregon to 10... but couldn't hold #23 Oregon St (Oh yeah... USC lost that game
)
Besides #10 who I admit they did shut down..... they've only played one other team with a top 45 offense. Not exactly getting tested here!
I agree with you about OSU... the only thing is it's at Lubbock... not exactly an easy place to play.Originally posted by Domsz06 View PostTanner,

As for the tie breaker... in that situation you can't use head to head so it falls to BCS standings. More than likely, Texas will have fallen below OU, since the loss was that late in the season.Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... lovin you know I'm just arguing with you cuz you love SC as much as I love OU. We will always just have to agree to disagree. He he ha ha!
Tanner,
Ok thanks for that info. That being said OSU did loose by 4 in Austin, not easy place either. Regardless the big 12 is just gonna beat it's self up again.
AND NO WAY FLORIDA MAKES IT!!
Let's just hope Michigan state can pull off the upset against PSU.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

Yea, it's all good. Your points are arguable, which I don't mind. It's the people who have ridiculous points that I can't stand. That's the beauty of college football, I think that the passion that the fans have for their teams, whoever they may be, is more than that of most other sports. The good news is that this will all play out. My prediction (hope) for my team is that we make a BCS game (since Ohio State's loss to Penn St., we are practically out of the NC game). If it ends up being in the Rose Bowl (Oregon State still has to lose another game), I would hope that it is an undefeated Penn State team, or if they by some crazy chance go to the NC game, then I would hope that a big 12 or SEC school come to the Rose Bowl. Another big 10 team (second place Ohio State) would be the worst. If Oregon State makes it to the Rose Bowl, SC should get a BCS bid and could end up with a better game against a big 12 or SEC team.Originally posted by Domsz06 View Postlovin you know I'm just arguing with you cuz you love SC as much as I love OU. Unfortunately I would have to agree, if Florida plays Penn St. in the NC game they would beat them. I actually think that Florida has a decent chance of getting there, with a victory over Georgia and then Alabama I think that they would jump Penn St. If Florida ends up playing Texas.......Originally posted by TRD View PostTitle game: FLORIDA vs. PSU
