    Credit Card Fraud....

    What can you really do to prevent it and advice if your in a situation?

    Keep track of your credit report or you can tell them to stop all inquiries to obtain it without written approval. Makes like a little more difficult when you want something but again, it does stop others from using your information.

      I think what da.bell is referring to is called a credit freeze.

          You can also just do a fraud alert. You just call the credit bureaus and have them put one on your account, just say your wallet got stolen or whatever. It's free. Any lender is required to call you before credit it initiated to verify it's you taking out the credit. It only lasts 3-5 years though, and can be reinstated.

          I've got them on my social. Lenders will always be like.... "ummmmmm for some reason we're supposed to contact you at this # before giving credit to you.... to verify it's you?"

          At least I know it works.
          Being a major OU fan and a staunch conservative.... I am perpetually vexed w/ the conundrum of who to hate more. Obama or the Univ. of Saxet.

            I thought that when you did that though it would impact your ability to get a new line of credit if needed...

              Nah, Just makes the creditor call you to verify it's you. Just a bit of time.
