Just Finished one of 3 Long Trips with our 22iR

We just returned from our last long trip to the river for this summer.
My daughter Maren starts college,, son is back in school soon, so that wraps it up for us.
We were lucky,, we got three almost 16 day trips each.

Our Tige 22iR flawless, and constant positive comments from other boaters how cool it looks and sounds.

As usual this trip, when we first arrived to Emerald Cove on the Parker Strip, someone around us had an incident.

This time, the people camped behind us, launched their brand spankin' new Magic twin engine Sorcerer,, and promptly hit the rocks near Riverlodge,, then backed off the rocks,, and hit another reef a little furthur down. Over $50K damage to their boat & outdrives.

First time on the river, at night, very low level, we all warned them.
We were really sorry to see it happen to a really super couple and their family,, no one was hurt at all.

Then, an old timer in his brand new 5th wheel was departing. While pulling out of his camping spot, he took out the new Silverado parked next to his site. The ol' buzzard kept pulling out, and kept grinding away on the custom painted and billet equipped Chevy truck. He took the whole front end sheet metal and Jewelry off the truck while murdering his high dollar firth wheel.

With the storms at night, I deep fried twinkies for the kids and all the neighbors around us.
Smothered with strawberries, they were a hit. A huge hit. I was surprised.
The next night storms brought more requests, so I fried up another batch.

One night,, the kids were sitting on our 22iR anchored listening to XM and cd's, and a family of beavers came up to the teak swimstep. The kids fed them carrots and chips.
My daughter remarked: "The beavers looked like wet teddy bears."

Then, later the burros made their appearance. These were gray with the dark line from shoulder to front leg and came up a few feet from our Tige' to take a drink from the river in the 119 deg F heat. One of them is usually pretty mean sounding and looking. The kids feed them carrots too.

One of the girls in the group is Horse crazy,, owns a couple,, so her mom packed several bags of carrots for any burro encounter. She claims with the inter breeding with the wild horses in the desert,, the burros have grown to be more mule like. Damfino.

    Wakeboarding was awsum.

One really sweet girl we took along was a 15 year old Natalie Wood look alike.
Her mom died last year, and she's been living a very slow, strict, quiet life with her ancient, fossilized grand parents.

Looking in her eyes ya see a lot of sadness in there with her. Can't help it,, I have to keep thinking of what I can do about it and realized not much.

She never wakeboarded or waterskied before & we pulled her up first try,, and by the end of the day she was an excellent wakeboarder.
The sweetest child ya ever met. Talking to her ya want to have more kids.
Wakeboarding, flirting with the boys at the sandbar and club,, t shirts and food at the floating bars,,, the buffet at the casino, taking turns driving the Tige' through weightless turns,, a big deal to a sweet kid who never has done it before.

Emerald Cove got burglerized twice last week.

Robbers took radios outta boats, stole Sea Doos wakeboards and other valuables from beach front campers. One night it was the South end beach campers,, another night a few days later it was the North end campers.

So, for me and the neighbors and the kids,, it was up all night keeping an eye on our stuff.

Fun summer, no really bad incidences,, one small visitor to our group cut her foot when she took off her river sandals,, The La Paz hospital people are super.
$100 a stitch,, but that's another thread (pun?).

Thats awesome. I love hearing all your stories. Everytime we take on of mine or my brothers friend to the lake who have never even been on a boat or a lake before love it. Some don't even know what wakeboarding is and when they get up their first try it's great. Sounds like it was a fun trip with all the animal encounters and fun times together. By the way, fried twinkies with strawberries are awesome.
