Anyone have a 2500HD chevy with the gasser 6.0? I found a killer deal on one w/33k, suer clean, and I am thinking of picking it up. Looking for real world feedback and normal use gas consumption. I know it will only get 12-14 in town, but on the freeway, unloaded, what can I expect? 18? I have no doubt it would pull the effin trees out of the ground. Drove it around yesterday and I am super impressed with the build quality vs. the OBS chevrolets.

It's an older, better looking, one; 2002. I really don't care for anything since 02 in Chevy's line. GMC did right by skipping the "angry eyes" styling that Chevy rolled out. The new body style is growing on me. Anyway, I will post pics, of it pulling the boat, and the new features that the boat entails as well. Filled some old screwholes today, should be ready to sand down when I get a chance.http://www.wakeboatworld.com

33k seems a bit high dude for an 02......I'd check around a bit more, my buddy just picked up and new 06 quad cab 2500 w/ leather and all the goodies for 28k......Originally posted by spharis View PostIt's an older, better looking, one; 2002. "Angry Eyes" That's funny. It took me a long time to get used to the newer Chevy styling.
Sounds like you got a good deal. I read somewhere that Chevy was going to put the Duramax in the Avalanche/Burban and possible the 1500 for 07. I don't know what happened to that plan, but that would have been sweet.
17/18 mpg isn't too bad for that big of a gasser."I want to know God's thoughts, the rest are just details"

, but I asked the same question they said it probably was not going to happen because of fitting the transmission in the rig?? Something about losing seating capacity. I'm not really a car guy so I just smiled and nodded, I don't know what that means but anyway that's what the GM engineers said.

They are going to have to if they are gonna compete with the new Tundra.....that thing is a beast! It is a 3/4 ton in a 1/2 ton frame.Originally posted by Tequilasun View PostSounds like you got a good deal. I have an 03 1500 HD with the 6.0 with the 3.73 gears. 75000 miles. Real world is this. Over the life of the vehicle I am averaging 13.4 mpg. Driving empty at 75mph I get just over 16 mpg. If I drop to 65-70 mph I can almost squeeze out 18 mpg but I cannot go that slow. City unloaded is about 11-12mpg.
Towing sucks. I have a 24V with trailer weighs just over 6000 pounds. Again speed is critical. If i tow at 55 I get almost 10 mpg. Over 55 it gets between 7 and 9 mpg.Let it be!!!

The Alison trany will not fit into the 1/2 ton frame, it's too tall, and you dont want the Duramax (or 8.1L) in front of the 4L80e trans. It's an ok trans but the Duramax (and 8.1L) would have to be "toned" down in order to fit the duty rating of the 4L80e.Originally posted by sparky216 View PostTalked with two GM truck engineers at a Seahawks game...go figure

The HD chassis is about 3" taller than the 1/2 ton and original 3/4 and 1 ton frames. this allows room for the Alison.
Side note: the 1500HD is not a true "HD", it is build on the original 3/4 ton chassis. Just has bigger brakes and axle(s) than the std 1500 to give it a higher payload/tow ratingMikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

Is that a 4WD? 10MPG towing isn't that bad. That's about on par with a diesel. We have a crew cab 06 Duramax and it is identical in mileage all the way around with what you posted. It is a 4WD though.Originally posted by xpjim1 View PostI have an 03 1500 HD with the 6.0 with the 3.73 gears. 75000 miles. Real world is this. Over the life of the vehicle I am averaging 13.4 mpg. Too bad about the Duramax in the the smaller vehicles, I would have purchased one."I want to know God's thoughts, the rest are just details"
