    Washington Lakes

Anyone been to Banks Lake, Pothole or Roosevelt in Washington state?

Looking for good water & campground or resort to try someplace different this coming July. 8 Hours or less from Portland. Must have HOT weather.

Been to Prineville, Ohwyhee, Detroit, Yale, Merwin. Going to Billy Chinook in June.

We go to Oxbow...ie Hells Canyon every Fourth of July, if you like HOT then you will love it there, also perfect glass and very few boaters on the water. The campground that we stay at is Copperfield, it is run by Idaho Power

The campsite is right on the water and the bathrooms and showers are very sanitary, the ramp is about a mile away but you can anchor out right by the campground. There are two stores about 2 miles away to get ice and beer but I recommend bringing everything you need and plenty of cash because the local gas station does not take credit cards!! We plan to rent a house this year but have camped and really enjoy the area. If you are into dirt biking then bring your bikes b/c there is some killer trails. All in all it's a beautiful, hot, peaceful area that has no CROWDS

    Good luck

We have a lake place at Seven Bays on Lake Roosevelt. It is always hot and you can almost always find some good water. The big weekends can get a little busy though. There is a good camp ground at Fort Spokane. It's right where the Spokane River dumps into Lake Roosevelt. I have never camped there myself, but it seems to be a good place to go. There is even an Indian Casino called Two Rivers Casino for night time entertainment. I would recommend Lake Roosevelt to anyone. It is an enormous area to explore with sandy beachs everywhere. Alot of people beach camp in our area.

Sparky- Thanks for the info. What's the drive time from Portland?

Simpson - Thanks for replying, haven't seen you on this site, WELCOME! One of the families in our group is really leaning toward Roosevelt. We'll put it in the mix to decide.

6-7 hrs depending on traffic and how many times you stop for gas, we usually spend a night in Pendleton and let the kids swim and have a few beers before hitting the hills east of Pendleton. You know now that I think about it Lake Shasta is only about 6hrs away also and we take that trip every year the second week of June and you cannot beat it there either camping or renting a house boat.
