So I was in Costco today and found this Olympus Stylus 740 for $279.00
http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_se...p?product=1265
I needed a smaller camera, one that would fit in my pocket but the cool thing about this camers is that it is "all weather". The guy at costco said that it is good for snowboarders and boaters because it can get wet (but not submersed). Pretty cool I think.....but I know that someone out there has a "all weather" camera and has some horror story, and I know that I already bought the camera but does anyone have any experience with all-weather camera's....ie are they truely all-weather.....thanks J

Oh ya, I've got a story about a not so all weather camera!
Our olympus 730 got left on the boat for about a week back in aug. It had rolled out of the beach bag and got left in the starboard console storage. The damp conditions soaked through the camera bag and killed it. I went looking for it while packing a week before for a week in Wyoming. Marry Early Xmas
The new one is not weather/water proof, but we got a replacement plan

Damp conditions ruined your 730....what did Olympus say? This is what I'm worried about, but for the amount of money I paid I'm not too worriedOriginally posted by chpthril View PostOh ya, I've got a story about a not so all weather camera!

When you say replacement plan was that some warranty from the store or the warranty from Olympus?

I started out about 100ft from him shooting w/the 35mm and a 300mm zoom. He just walk up to me without a care. My son took that one w/ the digital.Originally posted by Matt Garcia View PostI like the log cabin shot, very nice. I dont think I would want to get that close to a bull elk!

I've got a truly all weather camera that is is submersable to 10 ft. Pentax Optio. I can't remember the model number but I'll check. The cool thing is that it's 6 meg and the size of a cell phone. All the Air Race pictures I posted were taken with it. Not bad quality at all considering it's a point n shoot. That last one of Dreadnaught was from about 100' away while he was doing right around 450mph.Originally posted by sparky216 View PostSo I was in Costco today and found this Olympus Stylus 740 for $279.00
