If I get a sub that accepts 500 watts rms dual voice coil will the amp that is 300 watts rms at 4 ohm or 500 watts at 2 ohm be enough to power. Only asking since i most likely will not understand you answer to my first question Yes and no answers I do better with

If the woofer has dual 4 ohm coils, they can be wired in parallel to a 2-ohm load and connected to the amplifer which will deliver 500 watts into a 2-ohm load.

The asnwer is yes, if the woofer has dual 4-ohm coils.


If it has dual 2-ohm coils, you would want to wire them in series to a 4-ohm load, in which case you are only running 300 watts...

Yes the subs are 4 ohm based on the instructions that you can run in parrallel and have 2ohm or series for 8 ohm. Thse are the wetsounds 10 and 12 inch subs

Did we ever figure out why the Clarion stuff was not making sound?

Clarion stuff is gone, Cadence is in there and the answer is no. I had to work last weekend and did not get out to the boat. Will look at this weekend.

I hope I can find the issue before I get the new sub, unless it is the sub

The sub just has a low level vibration and not really movement.

Yes it really helps. I wanted to get the 12 inch sub and was not sure what the sub actually recieve power wise

The more I hear it described, the more I think that the woofer is probably stuck/blown/frozen/not working....

Although I am still curious of it is simply a dual voice coil sub where the coils are wired out of phase...

Sorry Phil, The Clarion amps are gone, but the sub is still the clarion single voice coil. That is the sub that is giving me issues.
Have not purchased the new sub yet

Ahhh..... I was thinking it was still Clarion sub...

It is probably the sub that is causing you the issue...
