In parallel wiring, the wire from each speaker is connected such that the plus leads touch each other and the negative leads touch each other, typically at the amp, like the left side of the pic below. It is easy to see that if one speaker were accidentally disconnected, the other would still play, since it is still connected to the amp.

Series wiring on the other hand, makes a big loop, "daisey-chaining" the speakers. This wiring has a higher load, and therefore draws less current, so the amp runs cooler. Thing is, if one of the speakers come disconnected anywhere, both speakers will quit playing.

Ok makes perfect sense, they are wired in parallel now.

Probably would run cooler, and would be a tiny bit quieter...

That being said, and do not take this wrong, the questions you are asking JUST BARELY give enough of an idea that we might be on the same page. Working on the stereo at this level typcially is a LOT easier if you follow my maxim for reliable stereo design; one speaker per amp channel.
I know you have 5 channels of amplifier, one of which is sub, so you have four full range amp channels. You have 6 full range speakers, right?

You really are best served to find a two channel amplifier and dedicate it to the tower speakers, if and when you decide you want to and can afford it. That will get you to the one speaker per amp channel ideal I prefer...

So If i run it in series will it make my amp last longer, IE less wear and tear on it?
