    Our World Today

An NFL player wins the super bowl after altering the pressure in the game balls, lies and destroys his phone to hide evidence and its headline news as if I give a crap

Secretary of State has an illegal email server, 4 US solders/diplomats are killed under her watch, said server wiped clean and its a "nothing to see hear, move along" topic with the main stream media.

A rich dentists poaches a cute lion on another continent, and we are in an uproar, pardon the pun, over it

A tax payer funded org harvests and sells baby parts for a profit, and again, its treated as a "nothing to see hear, move along" topic with the main stream media

Todays news is pop-culture, no real journalism anymore. If you bring up real topics, you are labeled as right wing wacko or something.

Was was once normal is now abnormal and what was once abnormal is now embraced.

Those that claim to be "tolerant" seem to be the most intolerant of other's feelings.

So watching CBS This Morning. They covered a story of an "alleged undocumented immigrant" (their words) that is "alleged" to have committed a crime. Again, they used alleged a lot and make sure to imply innocent until proven guilty.

The very next story was about the Dr that shot the lion. They made it very clear that the Dr lured the lion away from the reserve and shot him. They did not allege he lured him, they did not allege that the paid guides lured. They clearly stated "lured" with the implication of guilty until proven innocent.

Their applied context impacts both stories greatly. One has political implications and their wording softens the story. The other story has an emotional component to it and their wording clearly amplifies that emotional component.

That doctor's life is ruined. For all any of us know, he is a good guy who likes to hunt. Due to the media coverage, he can't even open his office and earn a living right now. I'm not saying he's squeaky clean, just saying doesn't deserve to be crucified by the media.

                couple thoughts:

dr got caught. that kind of thing goes on more than most would care to know in 3rd world countries. sensationalized by the news because he makes a ton of money and it was a "cute" lion. what about all the other "hunters" over there that are killing other animals for money and not getting attention. glad the news was there to make an example out of this guy? he will fade off into bankruptcy, story will disappear from the headlines and illegal hunting will continue status quo.

on the football story, you ever think that perhaps the cell phone with 10,000 texts was destroyed because there were bigger wrongs on it that could destroy his career or others', not just deflategate? seems that professional athletes today are above the moral values of the country and the pittance of a penalty is pocket change to him. ban him for life if you want to send a message. they say he was guilty. that's cheating plain and simple.

and for gosh sakes, get bruce jenner off the tv.

I agree completely. And I think this is exactly what Chp is saying as well - things like the jenner stuff are forced down our throats, expecting us to embrace it. If we don't, we are right wing/wacho/racist/homophone/"whatever else"... All while the real stories are just completely played down - if covered at all.

For the record, I hate politics. Having said that, I can't go along and not get into the conversation over the 'secretary of state' thing. These soldiers/diplomat where BRUTALY murdered/tortured - and now we are talking about her being President...

What is going on with this country...

Yes, exactly! Who the F cares about jenner. If i want to fallow jenner, ill turn into one of their shows or ill search out those stories. These kinds of stories are not important to everyday life, but those that are, are done in a touch and go manor by the main stream media.

Another example: In the late news last night, the brady story was covered by the anchor as if it was a lead story, well, it was actually. Not by the sports reporter How can deflate-gate be anything other than a sports story. A story about a player being bad off the field is borderline, but the brady deal is 100% sports, not national new worthy, sorry!

Im just tired of being told whats important to me, determined by someone else. Be a journalist and just give me the facts, and both sides. Then let me decide which side of the issue i want to fall on.

In all fairness. Outlets like FOX news will take the opportunity to ramp up a story to the 10th degree, but at least they will cover an important topic that none of the others are.

This doctor lives in my home town, which is about 10 minutes from where I live now. His office is close by. I do not support poaching or whatever he did (who knows as of now), but this guys life and career is literally over.

Where were all of these people crying about animals before this incident happened? How many of these upset people are part of an anti poaching group? Or raising money to stop it? It has always been a problem around the world, but now that an American kills one animal, it is all of a sudden a major issue in so many peoples lives. Give me a break.

Update: A friend of mine is this guys neighbor. There are 3 to 4 squad cars patrolling his neighborhood at all times as of now. They will not give him or his family any personal protection (as in a cop staying with them) as the PD does not feel that his life is in danger. After reading all of the hate comments and threats online, I'm starting to wonder.

This is totally out of hand. The media today is just a joke and promotes this type of outburst from social media and people sitting behind their computer screens.

People say they are tired of the China made goods but aren't willing to pay extra for "made in USA (Canada for me) goods.

                        Entitlement has ruin everything.

Removing competition from youngsters in sports, school, etc (because we aren't allowed to have winners and losers) has shaped a generation of socialists who believe someone else (government) should provide everything instead of working harder.

Capitalism isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

I work for the .GOV. not even sure for the most part anyone ever knows the truth. I watch the truth unfold.. and then watch the lies that cover it up. that is at the local level. cant even get my head around how much bigger it is at the top.

I guess that is why we have wake boats to forget the reality we live in. Integrity\honesty is mostly what is missing in this day and age. Entitlement is a problem, but to me people lacking integrity and ownership of what they do or dont do.

Interesting that most of those stories are about wealthy people and entities.
