I personally can say I made many good friends through the PW, "personal words" thread. Skippa has helped with my computer problems, met up with Ewok to do my first in the water test of my new ballast system. That was very helpful. Met MikeD and did a road trip just to get one last pull at the end of the season. Met Bryce and again we went out on probably the last day of the season last year. Communicating with the others in this thread also spurred me to go to the TO reunion in which I met many many of the crew that chatted with here. I am also sure that if I traveled to a place where one of these guys lived I would be asked to dinner, offered a place to stay and a pull behind thier boat. It is through this close connection of everyday chat that this was made possible.

I thank you Matt and Tige for this forum as I have learned some very valuable information here and have had a chance to share my experience with others both new and older members. This site has welcomed me and others and I have felt at home here. Again I have made some very good friends and benifitial contacts through this site but many because of this thread in question.

I am sure there can be a compramise on this in such a way that is acceptable to all that will not make us feel like we are in the dog house or will get banned for too many posts. Lets figure this out as a group. I am sure there is a viable and equitable solution.

Why don't you do the PW thread as certified members only.. So search engines wont pull it up.. And delete the thread once a month?

That is another good idea. I am sure there is a way to solve the issue. Let's cut out the pics and running up post counts but still leave it open to everyday discussions. You know we all like theatraction that the friendships made here have. A chat section or wicked's ideas as well as others could work.

I dunno kinda sounds like our liberal ran government telling us whats good for us.. Just my .02 might want to listen to your members who are on daily and keep the site active.. Just food for thought.. Dunno if I would change something that has worked for so long.. Might lead to failure.. I have personally ran and built many forums and never had issues with database issues or posts causing storage issues!

I think and correct me if I am wrong.. its probably 2 factors that nixed this thread. 1. post count .... meaning just posting to change or increase your status. 2. Content - pics of hot chicks (dont get me wrong I did not mind seeing them)

Here is what you have to keep in mind. this site is tied to a Brand. And I would assume the brand wants it at a certain level of professionalism, wouldn't you if you owned it? joe blows forum that is just his.. your right probably not a big deal. But this forum is tied to something bigger, its a representation of Tige in some shape or form. (last I checked it links from tige.com to here?)

I dont think anyone doubts or questions the knowledge of the peeps that use this thread.. probably some of the best help you can find not just Tige wise.. but inboard boat wise. my worth.

Valid argument here. The fix is having a moderator(s). However, a Tige lover would be biased. The solution: Open up your site for paid advertisement and use the proceeds to hire one person that has no association with ski boats to moderate the site. Keep politics, smut, childish "status count", and spammers off the board. It would take someone 1 or 2 hours per day at most. This leaves Matt to do other things of more importance and the site clean to a respectable standard. Banners ads fetch $300 a month. So we're talking about 2 small banner ads.

Solved. Everybody is happy.

Surely nobody will protest to a Wetsounds, Ronix, Hyperlite or Abyss Banner add on the top or page sides.

It is not that we didn't give you a chance rather we were told to start our own site if we wanted to have conversations like a group of guys hanging out. I was still unclear what the reasons were. If you just came out and said no pics I think we all would've been fine. If it is something that we wouldn't want out kids / wives etc.. to see than it is probably not appropriate and don't post it

Skippa, the only reason I mentioned about starting another site or whatever was because someone was already working on it before I even had a chance to come up with a solution. I saw the FaceBook post about it. I should have worded that response better and not given the impression that you guys just need to leave and create your own site.

There are options of creating a private forum that only certain members can obtain access to. However this will be moderated by moderators and admins.

Banners ads fetch $300 a month. So we're talking about 2 small banner ads.

We have discussed banner ads a few years ago but we have never fully pursued it. It maybe something to consider again.

Good points but it boils down to this.. People this forum is nothing with out them. And if your people whom use the site like something probably shouldn't change it because there the ones telling there friends what boat to buy and forum to visit. Don't be shocked when you piss off the ones whom keep all this going when there gone! The enterprise is nothing with out the people. Tige wouldn't be tige long if again the people are gone the (consumer) if tige went off and did there own thing and people didn't like it the people will change to what they do like. So the best business decision would be to listen to the ones buying using there product. So again step one to a good thing is the people. No people no need for the product!
