Thanks. I got a couple decent ones. Nikon D5000. I've only got a 200mm Nikor for it. One of these days I'll buy a real lens.

I have my eyes on the D7000.
...and thank-you sir. I couldn't pass up the deal on the 5000. I got it used with literally less than 30 clicks on it from my buddy's mom. Body, 2 lenses, a Speed Light flash, 4 memory cards, filters, case and even a warranty for $700.

Good pics. I love airshows! Is Precious Metal a P-51? The cockpit looks quiet unique...huh...cockpit.

That definitely started out as a P-51. Looking at that pic, I just realized that it has counter-rotating props. Is that common with racing planes?

Precious Metal. Where do I start? Yes, started life as a P-51. Now a heavily modified Unlimited racer. The motor/contra-rotating gear case is a Rolls Royce Griffon combination. Bomber motor. Full race canopy (good eye Matt). Wings have been clipped and fitted with custom tips. I'll have to check but, I think that might be an H-model tail. It never had much success under its previous owner but he never really pushed it. He did however bring it out every year and run it around the pylons though and that's good enough for a guy like me. After a horrendous week just a few years back in which there were several incidents, he decided to hang up his scarf and sell the plane. She now has a new owner who is fired up to bring it up to contender status. The Griffon set up has been campaigned in the past on the Red Barron and was dominant in the late 70's until it went down in '79 (what a story that is, as well as being one of my early childhood memories). That was the only other Griffon Stang.

I could literally sit here and type volumes of this type of stuff but, that seems kind of pointless. That is unless you guys actually want to know? I'm a far bigger Air Race geek than I am a Tige geek and I'm a freaking Tige Jedi.
