Wish I had studied engineering there. I was in Horticulture. I have a Master's Degree.

Chp said as long as it isnt in the bilge where it cant get wet, a fuse is fine. I just keep extra fuses on hand in case something happens. I bought a 10pk of 300 amp fuses for 12 bucks. Now that I do research, I think 300 amp fuse will b to big for the 4 gauge wire to the 1000/1

A circuit breaker would b better probably IMO, if something happens you just reset it. That is if it wont get wet.
