That is the pits. We always sit on the back of the sunpad, especially when we are instructing newbies. We also sit on the gunwales as it puts the weight just a little more outside and makes a difference in the wave. The nanny state strikes again to save us from ourselves.

My thoughts were that it was bad but was curious as to what others thought. I find it interesting that a state that had no speed limit wants to watch what you do on a boat.

just a heads up to all montana just passed a regulation saying that it is now ILLEGAL to ride on the gunwales, sunpad, or platform while under motion and that warning will not be given.

as a person that instructs wakeboarding and surfing this is going to change the way i teach and the way that most people sit when surfing.. watch out

No need to sit on the gunwale or sunpad. We got stopped twice at Horsetooth for it and he said if we did it again, ticket so we haven't done it since. Every now and then someone will do it but it's not necessary at all.

I have only done it a couple of times. A ranger went past us and didn't stop us. I did have a PFD on.
