Now I am trying to recall if I had read something that said vinegar was bad for gelcoat. Maybe that it stains it.

I use vinegar and water too sometimes. Someone told me that it strips the wax though.

Definitely doesn't stain it, it would be very apparent on my boat if it did. Our lake has really hard water, never had a problem with water spots until I joined it.

It was perfect! I was worried because it was pretty windy but it was blowing out of the east and there's enough stuff to block it I guess.

Here is a pic showing an area on the transome that was real bad. You can see the treated area on the left and on the righ how bad the water residue was. And that was after a good washing. The cleaned area still needs a good cleaning now and polishing but vinagar worked better than anything else I tried.

The reason I asked about the diode is I am wiring a switch similar to yours for my heater switch. Hi and Low positions. It has the square for the nav light and was wanting to be sure I get it correct. Did Radio Shack have the diode? Is there a size I need to ask for?

The Diodes are not needed to get the LEDs to light when the switch is activated, but are needed to get one LED to light when the NAV lights are on. The diode allows the light to be lite without actually energizing the device.

All you need is a small diode...one that will handle only a couple amps at the most. a .5A will probably do.

Like Chp said you could have the high light up the big square and the low light up the little bar or vis a versa and not worry about the Nav lights and diodes.
