I think it depends on the location. I have changed to only do 4 to 5 over. I believe you were coming across MT then down WY. Dr would know those roads the best. If you were coming across WY the Rawlins to just outside of Sinclair is typically patrolled heavily and they will get you for even a couple over. Many places along I 80 have gone to the variable speed limits. They change based on the weather. I have seen anywhere from 75 to 40. WY wants to make I80 a toll road, so I guess they are making revenue some other way.Originally posted by Ewok View PostWhat are the speed limits in MT and WY now? Once you get down to Cheyenne then into CO you typically just go with the flow, which is typically a minimum of 5 over if not 10. I do not know your exact route down through CO but if you are mapquesting/google maps/gps it will most likely have you use E470 (depending on the time of day or weather it is well worth it) it is a expensive toll road. In just a car I think it is over $10 from top to bottom. It goes out east around Denver, there is some road construction down through Denver. It is money less meaning they will just snap your plate and send you a bill with an added handling fee.
If you then hit Castle Rock it drops from 75 to 65, sometimes the cops hang out there. Safest is to just go with the flow, like I said though that may seem fast.
As you come into Colorado Springs there are cops there to as the speed drops. Now if you were to get off into the Springs at all the cops are on bikes and hide all over the place.
