What are the advantages of the different gear ratios offered on the Expedition. I know the taller gear ration gives better fuel economy on the highway, and the shorter ratio is better for delivering torque to the wheels, but what are the pros and cons for average boat towing duty? If it's rated to tow the same weight with both ratios, I would think it would be better to have the tall gear ratios to save a little gas.2009 RZ2, PCM 343, MLA Surf Ballast, Premium Sound.

If you are using it to Tow which you will I would only get the 3.73, Just because I like as much low end torque as possible and don't buy the vehicle for mileageOriginally posted by Ewok View PostWhat are the advantages of the different gear ratios offered on the Expedition. I would think it would also depend on where you plan to tow, a majority of the time. For me I went with the 3.73 instead of 4.10 in my truck for the same reason you stated. I might be a little slower off the line but that is ok. Another thing to consider, if you plan to put oversized tires on it will make the gear even taller. Some opt for the 4.10's because of this.Originally posted by Ewok View PostWhat are the advantages of the different gear ratios offered on the Expedition. That Flex EcoBoost has 355hp/350 lb/ft, that would be sweet for towing if it wasn't front wheel drive.Originally posted by Iwndr View Post
