Phil's baby crib is missing a Kicker setup.

Pic 2 shows the elevator trim tab missing. This happened once before in 95 to a different aircraft. Same thing happened. Aircraft pitched straight up and pulled just over 10 g's. The pilot, Hurricane Bob Hannah, blacked out but, came to with enough time to recover. That was at about 430mph. This time it was at over 500mph. He was out. Not sure why the tail wheel is deployed.

I concur, I don't know how that elevator system works but on similar systems, loosing that piece would give the pilot very little to no control in pitch, and high speed close to the ground is the worst place to have that type of malfunction.

Cool. I'm trying to decide what I'm gonna do. Leaning toward boating up there Fri afternoon rather then trailer it. Then wondering if we should camp Sat night, as well, or head back. Probably just camp and worry about boating back down to our slip on Sun morning.
