Broken shaft

WHat does it look like where is runs through the strut? Is it worn abnormally?

I don't know what normal wear is...just ran out and took a pic though and will post it up.

Does this look bad? He talked to the engineers at Epic and they think that something isn't aligned properly and that's why it keeps happening. He's working with them to find a shop/mechanic that will do the work now.

One would think that if ti was out of alignment, it would not be running true in the strut and that would show in some way as scoring or blueing. That is strange.

They said its just tendonitis. Shot me up and said take it easy for a week our two.

The funny thing is, we can't find anyone that has EVER seen this happen. Kinda crazy.

I doubt it would show discoloration since it's always being cooled in the water.

Does the prop and shaft spin relativly easily when everything is assembled?

Normally I would agree, but given that broken shafts are very rare, id be game for any abnormal sign of ware

With the boat in the water, and the new shaft installed, agian, open the engine compartment and look at the motor. Accelerate hard and see if the motor is shifting or rocking in it's mounts.
