I replaced the crap that was in my truck. It is an easy job but takes a while to ensure you get it all out. Turn the heater on high so you flush your heater core too. buy about 20 gallons of distilled water. Take off your lower radiator hose and drain it or open the petcock on the radiator(drains much slower). When it stops draining put the hose back on or close the petcock. Fill it with distilled water and drive around for 10-15 minutes(get the engine to operating temp). Drain it again. Repeat the process until it all comes out clear. Top it off with Anifreeze and hopefully that will get you pretty close to 50-50 mix. It worked out almost perfect 50-50 on my truck.Originally posted by zad0030 View PostI replaced the hose that I saw was leaking. But it still seems like my temp is fluctuating a lot. It may be because I am still a little low on coolant.
But my car also has DexCool in it which I keep reading online, SUCKS! I need to go out and check my oil and make sure there is no antifreeze in it. I keep reading about how DexCool is notorious for eating away your intake gasket... and thats the last thing I need to happen.
I want to flush it out and replace it with the normal green antifreeze but I'm not sure how much work this will actually entail.Last edited by ajholt7; 05-17-2011, 07:29 PM.
