There is a show on now about the weak levees in the Delta near the SF bay area. If they go it could pull salt water up from the bay and contaminate the freshwater for all of southern CA.

That "Delta" is where I go. That's where my fav. little slough sits....

Nothing funny about it to add to the PW thread, I'm just glad I don't live in CA. Earthquakes scare me a little.

I know, that's what caught my attention and why I left it on. The basics of the show said the delta is screwed if it gets hit by an earthquake and there aren't any good plans to fix it. If they get knocked down it will contaminate the water supply for a large part of central and south CA and it will take over 2 years for the water supply to be fixed for southern CA. There is about a year of water supply in the conservation pools so southern CA would be screwed for about a year. Its just sit and wait and hops it doesn't happen.

Damn, that sucks, and the restrictions are probably only going to get worse, but I see why they would do it. I can't see how things will get better unless they bite the bullet and spend billions to slowly rebuild the levees one at a time so as not to contaminate the entire water supply out there.

Odd day at the park watching kids at their soccer practice. A big group of emo kids has decided to stage an invasion of the little kids playground equipment. And emo love is in the air. One pair has been in an embrace for the past 40 minutes non-stop.

The same thing happened to me and my friends a couple of months ago. The DNR "highly suggested" that we find another lake to surf on.

It seems we created enough waves to wash away the shorline and the lake would take about two weeks to clear once we left. The SCUBA divers complained to the DNR last year about us being there too.

Now there's a 10 MPH speed limit on the lake.
