Speaking of vehicle troubles...
My VW Passat is showing the same early symptoms that ended up four times previously with a crack in the top of the gas tank. Obviously either a design or installation problem. Nothing like having a car which spontaneously begins to leak fuel every couple of years. Not happy.Comment

No. First time happened under warranty. Second time was out of warranty, but finally convinced VW corporate that such an unusual and dangerous issue was not a user-caused problem, so they paid. Third time fixed as part of a recall. Fourth time was less than one year after the previous time, so was covered under one year parts and labor guarantee. Now this time is only about 8 or 9 months after the previous. And it is about a 4 or 5 thousand dollar job.Originally posted by thtrog View Post
