But It could also cause it to work for a long time and prove to be a good investment.
No, some people had party buses did but my group didn't.
We did for the other prom though, that was nice

YLOD (Yellow light of Death)Originally posted by Guapo View PostZad...what's wrong with yours? My brother-in-laws keeps shutting down on him. It'll run for a while and then poof...it's gone.
When you turn it on, it will triple beep, show a yellow light, then blink red.
This is a lot of different problems. Most common is a malfunction in the CPU/GPU.
In most cases the solder on the GPU or CPU cracks just enough to cause a problem. I managed to fix this twice by heating up the motherboard to about 200 degrees with a heat gun. This melts the solder just enough to rebond the connections. Its a sketchy procedure but it does work. On my second attempt I added washer to the heatsink clamps to apply more pressure to the CPU/ GPU becuase I noticed areas in the thermal paste that never made contact.Common Sense is not so Common

That's scary stuff...taking a heat gun to the PS3

I'm not an electronics repair guy at all...but my bro-in-laws sounds like a power supply issue...right? I assume you can find that stuff on ebay...

yeah I thought I remembered you saying that.Originally posted by Guapo View PostWell, I have three boys plus me and we like to play modern warfare together...so you need at least 4. But we have 5 TV's so in lieu of a blue ray players I have PS3's...
It does sound a little crazy though...
That's why I'm buying one too, blue ray in my bedroom is going out, so getting one. Of course the GF is moving back in so now I have her blue ray as well... oh well. I'll move the PS3 into my Man cave as soon as I get that tv set up...

Power supply is usually a catastrophic failure. Like you will be playing and POW! its toast. Then when you power on you will get the YLOD. But how to tell if its a power supply is by if the fan turns on or not.Originally posted by Guapo View Post
