I bought my boat from a guy who kept the boat in "heated" storage.Originally posted by Fiveflat View PostI don't really have to winterize anyway. At least I don't think I do? Is "winterizing" mainly for areas that go into a deep freeze over winter?
Did I mention the block and both heads were cracked when I bought it?
It's cheap insurance. I keep my boat here at work. The plant never drops below 55 degrees, I still winterize. The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.

So all you do is drain the block and plug into a block heater? Even in 55degree temps?Originally posted by AdaminMN View PostI bought my boat from a guy who kept the boat in "heated" storage.

I warm up the engine, remove the block drain plugs, remove the intake hose from the raw water pump. I have a 5 gallon bucket with a hose on it which I hook up to the pump. I put antifreeze (50/50) in the bucket and run the engine until the bucket is dry. The Fresh air exhaust makes it easy to collect any antifreeze that makes it's way through the engine. I drain the antifreeze in the spring.
Everyone has a little different procedure. The luck is gone, the brain is shot, but the liquor we still got.

If you use the pink RV/Marine antifreeze, no need to drain and just run it in straight, no mix.Originally posted by AdaminMN View PostI warm up the engine, remove the block drain plugs, remove the intake hose from the raw water pump.
