I extended the USB on an Alpine 118M in an MC X80 from the head to remote USB socket on the helm with a 10ft extension cable with no quality loss.

I used a 6ft USB extension cable between an Alpine 9886M and a remote USB socket on a 21ft Sea Pro. Head-unit was overhead in the electronics box and the remote socket was on the helm. Again, no quality issues.

I have a dual socket that has 3.5mm AUX and USB together. I also use some USB only and 3.5mm only.

The Clarion head unit acts weird when I try to extend it. I can use a 10' USB extension and plug the iPhone cable into it and it works but if I plug in the Clarion flush mount USB and then the iPod cable it doesn't work. I tried a couple different USB extensions and can't figure out a good combo.

I left the engine hatch up about 6" and put a little room heater on the floor in front if it and put the cover on. Didnt plug it in yet, but it is supposed to get down to 29 tonight

This might not be relevant but on my clarion HU, i run a male rca's to 3.5mm jack with a 4' cord on it and I can plug in my phone or ipod. Are u wanting the USB so you can scroll thru your songs from your remote's?

U may need a USB booster.
