Just noticed I have a slight leak in one of my taps cylinders. Not leaking a lot but was wondering if anyone has chaged out the cylinder. How much was the replacement and what it took to change it out

can you tell where its coming from most of the ones i have seen with a leak are from the brass fitting on the back. just a matter of taking the fitting off and re-thread tape it. i would check it before i bought a new one.Comment

The TAPS cylinders are almost identical to standard Bennett Trim Tab actuators, but are limited to 1 1/8" extension per Tige specs. There are O-rings in there that are replaceable with a kit. Call Bennett (http://www.bennetttrimtabs.com/help.htm) for the kit and they'll answer any questions. They sent me a kit for free. The O-rings are probably dried out due to age as our boat doesn't have very many hours on it.Originally posted by tktige' View PostComment

Its leaking between the piston rod and cyinder cap, looks like seals are shot.
Thanks for the info on Bennetts I will call them to get a repair kit.
As for disassembly of the cylinder, is the cylinder cap just a screw on cap.
