Has anyone modified their older v-drive engine hatch to have a transom walk thru similar to newer models? I would like something simple like Moomba's design.

I have recently been thinking the same thing. My thought was to order a peice of seadek or something comparable. Then carry it to my upholstery man and let him Integrate it. -

Here's what the previous owner did to mine when they got new vinyl. I think it's red oak but keeps people off the vinyl. They also provided a step for the seat, (you can kind of see it in the reflection) and a snap down pad for the engine cover.
