    rz4 acme 1235 vs 2079 fuel efficiency

We have a 07 rz4 with the 400hp engine in it. Came with a slalom prop and we primarily surf. Tried a 1235 out for a day on loan from a friend and was much better pulling weight around. Went with a 2079 I picked up on here. Seems like we are going through fuel like crazy now. We only ran one day on the 1235 so i dont really have a idea of what we where using for fuel. My question is will there be that much of a difference b/w these 2 props for fuel consumption or am i splitting hairs?

I ran my 11 RZ4 last weekend pretty much non stop for 7.5 hours and pulled a bunch of noobs wakeboarding the whole time, tonz of starts ext..... filled up the next time out and it only used 22 gallons. boat has a PCM 409 and running the 1235. not sure what numbers or how that compares to your 2079 numbers.

I would appear your 2079 has two inches less in pitch, that could be a performance hit for it? I guess moving forward 2 inches less per revolution could add up and cause more fuel usage.

Yes for sure, the 2079's 12" pitch is sucking the fuel!

What altitude do you normally boat at, how much normal ballast is run and how many crew in a typical outing? The 1235 is a solid prop and a very popular one for your boat. Many people are satisfied with the upgrade from the OEM 537 to the 1235.

I like the pitch on the 1235 at 14.25 I think.
Good pulling power and you can cruise at 35 mph and break 40+ the next lower pitch is 12" and your redlined at 35 mph and can only cruise up to 25mph or it feels like your over reving.

That is the issue with the 2419? that came on my 2015 z3

I have a 2249 or 2247 that is the same pitch as the 1235 with another 1/2 " dia.
Haven't tried it yet but know it will be perfect for us.

Yes mike that 537 that came on the 2014 z3 was on the other end, I could get 45 mph but getting on plane was a struggle, I got my 1235 from you last year.
It is a great all around choice.

I have been using the 1235 on my 14z3 with the 409. This last weekend I had 13 people and tried filling the wake 9 sacks for surfing and it couldn't accelerate. I called acme today and talked with Jim and he recommended the 2315. I was pushing for the 2419 and he said the 409 was to much motor for 2419 and the 2315 would be perfect for high altitude and a loaded down boat. Acme has a 30 day trial on props so you can test them out.

I switched my 08 RZ4 from the 537 to the 1235 last summer. Pulls much better and is better on fuel for me. I can pull surfers all day (8-9 hours) on about 3/4 of a tank of fuel. We run with 6-8 people in the boat with 1250 lbs on the surf side and 250 on the opposite side.

This includes a 15-20 min run to where we surf on the lake. Altitude is about 2500 feet
