24Ve: 537 or 1235 prop?

I'm soon to pick up my 24Ve. It comes with a 537 prop. I've read various threads here that suggest a 1235 is better for wakesurfing. We intend to use the boat for everything from a little skiing and a little tubing to lots of wakeboarding and lots of wakesurfing.

Should I give the 537 a chance in the above applications? Or should I just concede that I'm going to need a different prop and move that way right up front?

If you load it up with a sac like the Enzo or similar, you will reach the limits of the 537 and hear and feel the cavitation and prop-slip.

My is to give the 537 a try first. We went with the 1235 for a while, but I felt like it was making the boat work a lot harder (higher rpms) in normal useage, particularly skiing or just cruising at 30 or so mph.

My 537 on the 24V works well at surfing speeds with over 1,200 lbs in the back. If we try to go faster with that weight (like when going back to the cove or dock), I do get some prop slippage. That's not a big deal to me since I try to drain the sacs before going anywhere far.

You may want to consider having both and keeping one in a "weekend saver kit" as a spare. That's what I do now with my 1235.

When I put on my 1235, the boat felt faster, sportier, funner to drive, and didn't cavitate at all any more when surfing under load. My top speed was 42 mph with the 537, and 41 with the 1235. I didn't feel like there was any negative. But that was my experience.

They are for different applications. The 1235 is a great upgrade for the factory 4-blade 537 that comes on the v-drives with a 1.5:1 gear ratio. The 911 is a 3-blade, and is a great upgrade for the older Tiges that commonly had a 1:1 gear ratio. Some of those came from the factory with 3-blades and some had a cutter SS 4-blade.

So, before choosing a new prop, there is a bit of info that needs to be compiled.

IF your boat does have the 1:1, which it more then likely does, and IF you have the factory 3-blade, which may be the 515, the I would suggest either the 653 or the 911. Same Dia, but 1" difference in pitch.

It's always a good idea to contact the pros at ACME and get their input though.

y, I came up with the 1235 after speaking to the factory reps at ACME. And it did exactly what they said it would. Better under weight, no cavitation, sportier, etc. And almost no top end loss. Sounded too good to be true, but it was true.

But that was on my 24Ve.

I have had the same experience.

I went from a 537 to a 1235 and all the losses were in the top end. At 30 mph I am doing 4000 rpm. My Marine Power manual says max rpm's is 4300 rpm's. I don't need to go over 30 so its no big deal to me.

Same here...even though I'm running it in a different boat. I don't see how you would not drop top end and up RPM's when going to a lower pitch prop. It's a great prop!
