BrentP I had the same thought. I just stripped out my screw on the brass housing of my RWP when winterizing. Maybe I should just replace the pump and get the globe impeller.

anyone done this? I would love to follow the steps for my boat.

Basically yes on never having to replace it again. I had the globe in my ‘99 for 10 years when I sold it 3 years ago and the new owner hasn’t touched it either. We install the globe with the new pumps because Mercruiser hired retarded engineers who put the pump in the most ridiculous spot on the engine. No replacements or failures since we started doing that. Obviously don’t suck up sand or debris into the pump but it is best solution. You’ll need to use the water inlet and outlet barb housing and the link I posted is for the GEN 7 PUMP ONLY. However, Hardin does produce the Older water pump in stainless as well and it can be found on the same website. I’ll do a write up with picks on the next one we do.
