    Little Help with 22i Radio

I got back home and put my '05 22i in the water today and the radio has no power. Everything else on the boat works so I figured fuse, but after spending several painful hours crammed into small spaces I can not find the fuse. There is no power to the back of the radio at all.

Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

Have you looked at the fuse pannel where all the spade fuses are? I have an 01 2100 v and it is located right above the battery. I had the same problem today and found a bad fuse there. Just a thought.

Isn't that an in line fuse. Does the power wire go directly to the battery. It sound like it just got left off.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Hope the stereo isn't connected to the ACC switch

It seems the stereo is not connected to the battery, unless the wire has been stuffed out of the way somewhere. I checked all the fuses under the dash and breakers on the dash, everything is good. Everything else works as well, cig lighters, TAPS, blower and bilge.

I guess I need to take some advil and go back down and trace wires.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

I wanted ro revive this thread as I am certain the radio is shot. When I put the boat in the water back in April I tried to diagnose the issue without luck, then went back overseas and forgot about it.

Now I am back for a few months and the radion still doesn't work. I had power to the back of the radio on the elec tester, but still no power at all. I pulled the radio from the boat and brought it back to the house to try again, still nothing.

So my question is, does anyone have this radio that they perhaps pulled from their boat they would like to sell? I really don't wish to spend alot of money on a new system as my family doesn't really listen to music on the boat that often, we mostly talk or ride. But it is nice to have when anchored and hanging out.

Ideally it would be nice to find the same radio, or at least another Clarion so I can plug the remote in and rewire the power/speakers.

Here is the radio, if interested let me know a price. Thanks very much.

Which wires had power? And did you use the radio's ground wire as the ground for your tester when checking for power, this kills 2 birds with one stone.

The Clarion M455 is a decent H/U and will accept the remote, they can be had on Ebay cheap. Not sure of the cut-out size of your current head unit, XMD3?

The larger yellow wire had power and the red and red/pink stripe wire had power. The black wire had ground. When I brought it home I hooked the yellow and red wire straight to my car battery positive and the black to the batery negative and got nothing at all.

I don't know if the radio is grounded thru the antennae like some older car radios, but I did ground that also with nothing at all.

Thanks for the info Chpthrill, much appreciated.

Yes, it is that size cutout, XMD3, looks like din and a half? lol

                    Yep, sounds like it's done.

It takes a 7" x 2" cutout, std single DIN. You'll be ok as long as the hole wasn't cut larger.

I killed that same radio in my 05 22i from trying to charge my batteries and not disconnecting all of the leads, it apparently fried the internal board or power supply (cant remember which one) without popping any of the inline fuses. It was cheaper to purchase a new one rather than have repaired. The opening for that radio was most likely cut just like mine was and is way bigger than a standard single din open, or even close to what is needed for that radio. I purchased the M455 like what Chpthrill recomended, I custom cut a piece of white cutting board that would cover the opening in the dash and would fit the single din radio. You can get Starboard from a marine store but honestly a white kitchen cutting board is identical and cheaper Used a sander to round off the edges and screwed it in to the dash. I screwed it in from the front and i didnt like it, would recommend screwing it in from the back and it will look a lot better.

I have tried to find the M455 everywhere with no luck, nor can I find the XMD3 anywhere. I called a few places and was told that the M475 also has the same plug for the remote, but when I checked the website it appears they have a wireless remote. Not sure if it also has the plug for my remote on the dash.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this unit, Chpthrill?

Here is the link, thanks very much!

Let me check on a couple other models, but you can use the M475. It comes with a wireless remote, but has the wired remote interface plug. You can also use the CMD4(A) and CMD5. Both are failry cheap on sites like Ebay as they are older models. I'm checking on the old M275 and new M109 and M309 models.

Thanks so much, I really just need any radio I can plug in to the remote. I am selling the boat and trying to get ready to deploy back overseas, so I am short on time and resources right now.

I truly appreciate your help brother.

Ok, to make the current remotes function, you will need either the XMD3 like you have, the M455, M475, CMD4(A) or CDMD5. And they will be priced in that order, typically.
