    Wake size/shape of V vs I drive

    OK,

so has anyone been behind a v drive and a i drive tige? just wondering how the wakes compare. I mean, stock no fat sacs, I would presume the v would be a bit bigger since the motor was in the back, but if you do the i drive right is should be just a big, right? just wondering.

    Buy the V

If you're into boarding and aren't a world class waterskier, definitely go with one of the V drive. The Taps system on the V's allows you to ski behind them without any problem, but when you're wakeboarding, the 20V or 22V gives you an awesome wake. I guess it comes down to the fact that the V's are designed for wakeboarding 1st, waterskiing 2nd. Don't forget, the 22V was the US Open Tow Boat, so it has to be the best Tige builds for wakeboarding.

I don't know about you, but I just don't see any advantage in the I over the V but I see a lot of advantages of the V over the I. Remember, in any of the V's you don't have to worry about the tow rope (since the pylon is behind the seating area in the V -- it's in the center of the boat on the I's so you can't really use that rear seating).

very true. The 21ir in 03(my boat) was used for the world wakeboarding as well. First ever I drive used for wakeboarding I like the wake, and I'm glad I got it. When I have gone beside x-10s and wakesetters, my wake is just as big IMO if not bigger, so I think I like my boat

While I love my new 22V, there are some aspects I miss from my 02 22ir. First would be the handling. That boat felt like a sports car while the 22V is more like a truck...a big truck. Especially around the docks. I also love the seating in the 22ir when you have 3 or 4 guys out riding. There are much more comfortable seats to watch a rider in the I than twisting your body all around in the V.

The 22V obviously has a bigger wake, but you can get the 21i and 22i pretty close in wake size...you just have to add a ton more weight to get it there. The 22V's wakes are a little steeper as well.

Like everyone else says, if you are wakeboarding a majority of the time, go for the 22V. If you still do a lot of skiing, I would recommend the 22IR or 21IR. Especially if you are in a tight course, the I's will handle much better.

I don't know about you, but i have a 21i and my buddy has a 22v and to me it feels like i have more room inside the boat with the 21i. So, space could go into what you like too. and the engine though in the way with walking does add additional seating. and the reverse sky box seating is really nice too.
