    Transmission Alarm

The high temperature alarm sounded on our 1999 21i. The alarm seemed to be intermittent and was going on/off for about 10 minutes before the engine was turned off.

The transmission fluid was subsequently replaced and the alarm is no longer sounding. I was wondering, however, if the high temperature is the result of just dirty/used fluid or if it is symptomatic of a more significant problem. Also, I'm concerned whether damage may have resulted from the high temperature condition.

    Thank you.

Check the cooler inlet and see if there's any debris lodged in there. If you find pieces of impeller you may want to check that too.
Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...
