Can someone tell me how often to replace a impellar.

Some do it at the start or end of each season buts its not necessary. This just reduces the chance of having a blowout over the summer.

It is mandatory to have a back up though! It will ruin your day! I know because it happened to us.

Every other season (in the Spring) at the least, but a lot change it yearly. When you do, take a real close look at the housing, most repeat impeller failures are a result of a bad housing.

It can last two seasons but for $40 an impeller, it's definitely cheaper than purchasing a new engine.

At least every 2 years...depending on how much you use the boat.

and if you have the right replacement part (dbl or single)
I think it depends on silt in water and if you let it dry out over the winter

It has never been replaced yet, i always hear of people doing it every year but i have had boats my whole life and we have never replaced one yet, but this is my first non i/o

The mercruisers are tough because you have to take the whole raw water pump assembly off, then dissassemble it to get to the impeller. Unlike most new motoros that just require 3 screws and then swap it out.

Brody's probably has the Marine Power engine in his boat. That is four screws and a PITA to get into that area.

10-15 min would be a world record
me? it took about 5 hr after I got the parts right.
I'm on the real slow end, but it was done and works.

The 20V actually has a chit load of room compared to the rest of the v-drives.
