if you just cut a hole in the bulkhead under the drivers seat will it sound good or do you need a sealed box.My boat is a 21i and i am looking at putting 1 12inch kicker L7 in that location.

Depends on sub, the L7-12 will really like a vented, but would sound great with a sealed. Check the PDF section on www.kicker.com for enclosure sizes.
