towing with escalade

I am thinking about buying a 2008 escalade, but i am wondering how well it will pull my 24ve. does anyone use a escalade? and my dealer is asking 54,750 for a AWD....how much lower should i ask for?

Is that our the door? Take a look at the towing capacity of the vehicle. Also make sure you have 3.73 gears. See if you have enough margin so that you can put in your family, and gear. The boat with trailer, fuel, tower, platform and gear will be somewhere between 6000 and 6300lbs.

I do know someone that tows a similar boat with an escalade and it does fine. I know there are several people that use tahoe/yukon/denali on this site and I don't know of any that have complained. Is it a basic escalade or an ext or esv? I know the esv, long wheel base version I have heard has had issues with the air ride suspension towing heavy boats, but in the grand scheme of boats, a 24v isn't all that heavy. I live in Florida so I've seen everything towed with everything, but I would think a 24v can be towed with an escalade quite confidently. The gas will suck though, probably 8-10 mpg at best.

The '08 Escalade has that 400+ HP 6.2L, it's more than up to the task of towing a 24 Ve. I've heard that those don't get that great of mileage towing though, like 6-8 mpg so keep that in mind. I looked at a Sierra Denali with the same engine for towing my RZ2 before I bought my Duramax and man do those things have some power with that engine! I know you'll be just fine with that setup, it's rated to tow 7,700 lbs.

I pull my 24ve, loaded with extra stuff with my 2004 Ford Expedition with the 5.4 Triton v8 w/tow package. Like a champ--a thirsty champ--9mpg, but a champ. I don't hardy feel it back there. my tow rating is 8700lbs. I only use the 4wd to pull out of the water--2wd for rest of driving. You should have no problem....

I have '07 escalade towing my RZ2. It does real fine with the hills over here in N. TX around PK Lake. It is a GAS HOG, when towing...

i tow my rz2 with an old 2000 chevy blazer
4-8mpg....it sucks, but i just dont have the money to get an escalade yet.
go with the escalde, you should have no problem at all......aslo 54k is a little high for a new one...with the economy now you should be able to get one with incentives well below invoice

I would order a loaded berd with the duramax, I heard that is an option. That way you get the allision trans.

no diesel suburban anymore. Someone had one built and was selling it on eBay for like 60k though. Not a bad deal really if that's what you really want.

A few years back, they did tinker around with offering the 8.1 and Duramax in the 3/4 Burb but it would have to be mated with the 4L80E because the Allison would not fit under the body due to the short frame rails. I order to keep from grenading the the 4L80E trans, these 2 engines would have to be de-tuned to a point of not being much better then the current engine choice. The other option would be to build a new chassis for the Burb with tall frame rails like the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. I guess it was not cost effective.

Rumor is that the Burb will be available with the new baby Duramax next year.

They did offer the 8.1 in the suburban and two of us have them.

On topic, any fullsize SUV will tow any wakeboard boat smaller then an X-80 without a problem. The longer wheelbase models are always better for stability while towing plus the short wheelbase Tahoe/Yukon/Slade have "0" room if you have the third row seat in.
