The problem is not with the calculations, but rather, the assumption that a 5 degree angle (or 4, 9.9, etc.) is insufficient to have an effect. I have no idea whether such an angle would have a noticeable effect on the tendency of the tube to submarine. But until you plug that whole in your analysis, the argument is not complete (or convincing).

And as for spunk, I get a huge kick out of Zad0030's posts (and classic rock tastes). My fav is when a new poster comes on the board, Zad0030 reads him the the riot act (usually with spot on advice), the newbie retorts with "shut up kid", or something similar, and several of the regs on the board jump in setting the record straight as to his good depth of knowledge.

Pahh. Stick to your guns and broadcast it. After all, it is not so much your absolute boating knowledge (which is far greater than mine but might not surpass other big guns of the board) that is most impressive; rather it is your identity as a boating "prodigy" that makes you stand out.

I've been boatless for about 2 months now, but when we went to the lake, every trip, we would bring every toy we own. The knee board, the wake skate, all the wakeboards, and the tube. We would board all day until the water started to get choppy. Then we would get the tube out. It was a big 3 person tube. I just had a little coleman electric pump that we would fill the tube up with. Then when we were dead tired and could not hold on to the tube any longer, we would deflate it and put it back in storage. No reason to fill that thing up @ home and keep it inflated all day. Would just be in the way.

Well worth the money, in my opinion... BUT, it's not 100% effective. It does eliminate the spray, but and it does keep the ropes out of the water, but I have still had a tube dive occasionally.
