I always use my blower. If we have been stopped for a long time I pop the hood and turn on the blower before starting the engine. Especially if it is real hot out.

Had an I/O before our Tige and there's nothing about an I/O I can think of that would make them more likely. Did the Glastrons have carbs or FI? Ours had a carburetor and now we have fuel injection. That might make a difference. Fuel injection lines are better quality, but that's because the pressures are higher. It's interesting to see in the junkyards the difference in engine compartment fires. With a carb fire there would be a melted carb and a burn spot in the center of the hood. I run it before putting the boat into the water and if I am sitting for any length of time with the engine off, I will run it again. Normally, I forget to turn it off.
But, with the amount of force that the air is being drawn out, I wonder if I get better fuel economy since it's helping to propel me through the water.
