That looks like a spare tire on there as well.

You can also take the tire off and then use cinch straps to strap the axle up so it stays off of the ground. That will work but I wouldn't take it up to highway speeds. I was told this by a trailer place one time and since then I have seen several people doing this when they didn't have a spare tire.

BTW, sometimes you'll get that a tire that looks like that if you're turning your trailer in tight spaces. Have you tried rolling it forward a bit to see if it straightens itself out?

i'm calling AAA to get it to tws corona, but i still need to fix the problem...maybe when they service boat, i can take the trailer to extreme trailers to have them look at it..

AAA won't cover towing your trailer, unless you have the extended coverage.

Sounds like bearings. Should be easy to fix. Any shop that can do bearings should be able to do them for you.

Trailer Problems

I had a tire that looked like that on a single axle trailer. Turns out the bearings were destroyed, the outer bearings completely gone. I noticed when I was backing into the garage. The wheel hub was riding on the bare axle and was smoking hot. I backed into the garage anyway.

Later I jacked up the trailer with the boat still on the trailer. I had to remove the springs and the axle. The springs were mounted under the axle so that made the job harder.

It was necessary to replace the entire axle assembly. I got the axle for about $100.00 and did the work myself. The assembly included the hub and new bearings. I had replaced the springs the prior season because of some broken leafs in the springs.

With brakes the job becomes a little more complicated and i would not attempt such a repair. You may well be looking at a $500.00+ repair if indeed the bearings have been destroyed. That destruction generally destroys the hubs and axle requiring complete replacement.

It always seems worse than it is. At least you didn't have a lug break free like I did so I couldn't remove a tire. I had to have a shop remove the wheel assembly so they could use a welder to remove the lug from the inside. Talk about a bad day. It still only cost me $150. Didn't even have to remove the boat from the trailer.

You could probably do it yourself, make sure you don't tighten the nut to secure the wheel assembly too tight.
